The Watchers Debut New Song “Alien Lust”

Bay Area Band Featuring Members of Orchid, SpiralArms and BlackGates to Release Debut Full-Length, ‘Black Abyss’, March 9
San Francisco doom rock band The Watchers will release its new album, Black AbyssMarch 9 via Ripple Music (Mothership, BANG). Recorded in California’s Sonic Room Studios (Forbidden, Zed) and mixed by the legendary Max Norman (Ozzy Osbourne, Y&T), the record features eight tracks of heavy street-riff rock and is the follow-up to The Watchers 2016 debut, Sabbath Highway, an EP hailed as “the veritable creme de la creme of the modern stoner metal”.

In advance of Black Abyss’ release, Invisible Oranges premieres the track “Alien Lust“, adding, “The Watchers aren’t kids — Black Abyss may be a debut full-length, but it reflects a deeper understanding of rock’s history”. Hear The Watchers‘ “Alien Lust” at this location.

Formed in 2016, The Watchers features members of popular California underground bands SpiralArmsOrchid and BlackGates. Longtime vets of the San Francisco heavy music scene, the band plays razor-edged rock ‘N’ roll, fast and heavy. Black Abyss is a hard-charging riff-fest, jam-packed with rich solos, driving, blues-based harmonies and the unmistakable vocals of Tim Narducci (ex-Systematic).

The Watchers will perform a slew of high profile live dates in the coming weeks; the band will play multiple gigs at SXSW (including the official Ripple Music label showcase; details here) and festival shows as part of DesertFest London (with High on Fire, Graveyard) and the 2018 Maryland Doom Fest.

“The Watchers represent the veritable creme de la creme of the modern stoner metal crop, featuring members of SpiralArms, Orchid and BlackGates. Their music very much fits into the same mode as these foundational acts, showing us the exciting future of a band who thundered into this realm with one of the coolest labels going right now.” – METAL INJECTION

“This is heavy rock that filled arenas in the days of yore, when mysterious long-haired guitar-slinging libertines ruled the world. Every song hits hard and embodies what rock and metal should be: beholden to no one. If you tend to raise fists and beers more often than you raise concerns about “the scene”, this one’s for you.” – INVISIBLE ORANGES
